First let me tell you what this company is. It's the final resort. A company tries to collect their debts first. They do this for a good amount of time. When unsuccessful, they "pay" these companies to try to claim what the have "written off" already. In other words they consider they'll never get a dime. So they offer these companies up to 50% (usually a bit less but I've seen it that high) to the amount they can collect. This means they get SOMETHING back. These are companies who use "scare" tatics like they'll sue, garnish you etc. They cannot if you follow what I tell you.

1) if they call you, IGNORE IT 100% do not pick up the phone.

2)If by chance you do, never admit you are the person.

3) Are you worried if you do #1 and 2 you'll be sued etc? You won't be. Why? Because

a) these debts are very old already. 3-7 years most likely but in some cases 20. They are most likely off your credit report.

b) if you are worried the credit report is scarred go to the ONLY real site and pay the 15.95 fee. It's myfico.com You can contact the three major credit sites or go for info on suzeorman.com to get info on where to get LEGITIMATE credit reports. Get those first THEN see if you owe anything and how old it is.

4) Once you have your credit score and all you owe and from whom, then you see how old it is. In 7 years max in any state, the bad credit is REMOVED. If you are called (and this is WHEN this company will call you) at the 6 year or 6 year ll months and 29 day mark, they will get you to agree to pay something. Even 20 dollars. If you do, you just screwed yourself. You now would have that removed from your credit to now being on there ANOTHER 7 years of bad credit!!!!! DO NOT PAY it.

5) The only instances where you will want to pay anyone old debt like this is if you are buying a home. If you owe 200 bucks on something 6 years ago, maybe you can clear that up right there in the realator's office so that you can buy the home. Short of that or being interviewed from a job that requires a credit score check do NOT DO IT!!! DO NOT PAY.

6) Once I was tasked with going to the attic and removing old file boxes of delinquent car accounts that were 15-20 years old. 90% of these accounts had been purged from they system. They were off credit reports. We would call people and get them to agree to pay. Now these people were back in the system and stuck for up to 20 more years and facing harassing calls!!!! The account was "new" again and after we couldn't collect that anymore, they were sent to a lawyers office and from there were sent paper on letterhead. It scared people but the truth? They could not have their wages garnished without going to court and guess what? Unless the debt was 5k or more, they would not bother. It wasn't worth their time. So if your debt is 15-20 years old.... NEVER EVER NEVER EVER pay.

They call you and can't verify if you are John Smith A, B or C. If they cannot verify who you are, they can't put you on record. So don't even pick up the damned phone!!!

Do not fall for scare tatics. Most are illegal. And like I said, you will make your situation worse in 75% of all cases by paying anything older than say 5-7 years. Definitely over 7 years do not pay it. I mean it!!!! I have nothing to gain but I want to help the people best I can with the limited knowledge I have. Good luck

Reason of review: scare tatics to people.
